Why Photos Matter More than ever
In a world where we take more photos than ever before, it’s easy to forget that the most meaningful ones are often the ones we print—the ones we see every day on our walls, hold in our hands, and pass down through generations. May is National Photo Month, and it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on the importance of being in photos, not just taking them.
Too often, especially as adults and parents, we stay behind the camera—capturing memories for our families without realizing we’re missing from them. But here’s the truth: your presence in photos matters. Not just today, but for the people who love you now… and who will want to remember you later.
Why You Need to Exist in Photos
Photos tell our stories. They capture the laughter, the love, the quiet in-between moments that fade from memory faster than we expect. And being in photos—really being seen—helps our loved ones remember who we were, how we lived, and how we made them feel.
This is especially true for parents. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I encourage every mom to step into the frame. Your kids don’t care if your hair is perfect or your outfit is coordinated. They care that you’re there. Smiling. Holding them. Laughing with them. Just being you.
Why print matters
It’s easy to think our memories are safe in our phones or in the cloud. But technology changes, phones get lost, and social platforms come and go.
Printed photographs, on the other hand, stand the test of time. Albums become heirlooms. Wall art becomes part of your home’s heart. A printed photo can turn an everyday moment into something timeless.
Prints are more than paper—they’re memory, emotion, connection. They help us feel rooted in who we are and remind us daily of what matters most.
A Personal Story
This year, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of two incredible women—my cousin Christie and my dear friend Kellie. Their absence is deeply felt every day, but what brings me comfort are the photographs I have of them. Some are joyful snapshots from everyday moments, others are more posed, but all of them are now priceless.
When I look at those photos, I see Christie’s kindness and strength, and I hear Kellie’s laughter and feel her vibrant energy. These images allow me to hold on to the small but meaningful moments we shared—moments I might have forgotten if they hadn’t been captured.
I’m so grateful I have those photos now. They remind me how vital it is to be in pictures with the people we love and to make sure those memories aren’t just saved digitally, but preserved in print—so they can be seen, touched, and treasured for years to come.
Don't Wait for Someday
Whether it’s a professional photo session, printing images from your phone, or simply asking someone to snap a picture of you for once—do it. Be seen. Be remembered. Exist in your family’s story—not just as the one who captured it, but as the one who lived it fully.
Because life moves quickly, but your memories shouldn’t.
